Dr Paul Gray
Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Paul Gray has considerable experience in creating value from new communications technologies. Prior to joining Cohda Wireless, he worked for 6 years in San Diego where he was CTO for iCODING, a start-up focused on developing and licensing IP for Turbo-codes, before joining TrellisWare, where he led the development of a novel 1 Gbps Turbo-code chip and was Business Manager for TrellisWare’s Commercial activities. Prior to this, Paul had worked for Dspace (now EMS Satcom Pacific) where he worked on satellite communications products and was responsible for the development of products that were the first commercial application of the (then recently invented) Turbo Codes.
Paul was originally Cohda’s Chief Engineer and, in this role, he has led the development of all of Cohda’s products to date. For the last four years he has also led all of Cohda’s business development and has created the enviable levels of engagement that Cohda has today across the automotive industry. Since becoming Cohda’s CEO at the beginning of 2011, Paul has also turned his focus to strategic engagements and business planning.
Dr Paul Alexander
Chief Technical Officer
Professor Paul Alexander is a pioneer in the field of iterative detection, having done some of the original ground-breaking research in this field as far back as the mid-1990s. He has since had an impressive career in turning this research into products in Australia, Singapore, and the USA. At Southern Poro Communications, Paul was the principal designer of advanced 3G receivers. Paul co-founded Cohda Wireless Pty Ltd to capitalize on a range of new techniques that he (and others) had developed while at the University of South Australia. Since then, Paul has led the creation of all of Cohda’s IP and has built an impressive patent portfolio. Paul continues to create innovative IP today.
Fabien's background is in short range wireless IC. He worked in a leading wireless IC supplier for the car industry in UK, CSR ltd. He developed the long-term roadmap for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for the car market as well as support one of the top 3 car maker for their 2008 to 2015 platforms. During this period he also managed key SW projects in UK, India and China for leaders in the PND and aftermarket infotainment markets. Prior to that Fabien worked in a French technical distributor as wireless product line manager. These 3 years allowed him to work with a wide range of French customers and required in-depth understanding of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, GPS and dedicated sub 1GHz radio. But his background is in R&D. Following a master in Microelectronics in Limoges, France, he joined the innovation department of Philips semiconductors in Nijmegen (The Netherlands) in the 90s where he worked on opto-electronic receiver and power amplifiers for sub 1GHz band followed by the design of 2.4 and 5 GHz on PA. Fabien is now managing the development department of Cohda wireless to bring the company to the next level, reaching mass production with tier one car maker in the next 4 years.
Chief Financial Officer
A CPA with over 20 years experience in senior financial management roles, Jane’s commercial, financial and management skills enable her to successfully oversee the daily operations of Cohda Wireless. Since commencing as Commercial Manager in June 2011, Jane has led the delivery of robust financial and administration management processes while overseeing the preparation and review of all company financial, legal, insurance, and employment documentation. Jane’s previous roles include Financial Controller and Commercial Manager of Intelligroup Australia Pty Ltd and Chief Financial Officer of the Construction Industry Training Board, where she honed her understanding of technology services, in addition to meeting complex statutory financial compliance requirements. Further expertise as a Public Tax Accountant rounds out her skill set.
Vice President of Business Development
Bernd brings over twenty years of Automotive and Semiconductor experience. He held a variety of management positions in Automotive Sales & Marketing. Prior to joining Cohda Wireless, he worked for Semiconductor Manufacturers like Motorola SPS (now known as Freescale Semiconductor) where he held several Senior positions in Sales & Marketing, and Texas Instruments where he led the European Automotive Sales & Application team. In Switzerland Bernd worked for Volcano Communication Technologies (now part of Mentor Graphics) as VP of Sales & Marketing where he developed and executed global strategies in the areas of design software for communication networks, embedded software, and test & validation tools for Automotive. In 2005 Bernd led the European Sales activities of Motorola Automotive (now part of Continental). After the acquisition by Continental he was responsible for the area of New Business and Advanced Technology within Continental’s Business Unit Connectivity. Other key assignments include, strategic planning and business development activities for various clients, primarily in the area of Telematics where he also managed key business relationships with International Automotive OEMs and Tier1 customers. Prior and lately to that Bernd worked in a German technical distributor as Business Unit Manager, responsible for System Solutions and Engineering.
